Down By the River

That's where Rob and I are heading today. We're both off from work today. We're taking the small boat out for the first time this year. The weather report calls for 2mph winds today, and 15mph+ for the weekend, so might as well take advantage of the nice weather on the river. Fishing in the wind literally blows. I'll probably skip fishing this weekend all together.

Had a good time yesterday Gar. After "cave dwelling" for a week it was real nice to get out and catch a few fish. We'll have to do it again soon.

This is my half-assed theory but since the water is still cold (and it is), the fishing is going to be best in shallower lakes/rivers or the shallower areas of the bigger lakes. I think that's why the stream on the north end of Idong is picking up for smaller bass but unfortunately, every Korean fisherman knows that fact because that area was packed on Saturday morning. But aside from my buddy catching a nice one and I think a couple of Koreans catching a few, no one was doing much of anything there that day. The others we caught and the bluegill all came out of small, shallower coves and inlets we found while driving back down towards the old 45 overpass. I really wish we would have hit Asan bay, the river, or Yongseol lake as (going with my theory) those places are shallower and I think the bass will start getting active there before they do in deeper lakes like Idong and Gosam.
Keep in mind that these theories are from a guy who has absolutely no clue about bass fishing :).

the fish weren tup shallow yesterday, not in huge numbers, anyways. I had one other bite on the bait I was fishing and that was it. Dropshotting and texas rigged worms out a little deeper got nothing. It was raining all day, and the guy tried to raise the boat rental price on us to 40K won. Not too cool.

Ack! Define "tried to raise the price"...did he raise the price or what because if it's nice out, I was going to hit Gosam next Saturday...but I'm not sure if I want to spend 40,000 won.

Just make a deal with him, I am sure it will go back down to 35. :)

He told us it was 40,000 a boat. I know the other place on the lake rents them for 35 still. If anyone wants to go this weekend I would love to go, I have all my own gear, just need a ride. Im stationed on Osan. Any day now the fish should be shallow and easy to catch! bass2048@yahoo.com
